Bulding Strong Neighborhoods and Homebuying Opportunities
The Fairmont Community Development Partnership (FCDP) is an independent 501 (c)3 nonprofit corporation dedicated to stabilizing and revitalizing Fairmont’s neighborhoods.
The roots of the FCDP go back to 1991 when the organization was incorporated. The vision of the organization was to preserve Fairmont’s neighborhoods and revitalizing the community.
The organization has impacted community and economic development, neighborhood revitalization, and the quantity and quality of affordable housing.
The term “Partnership” describes the approach that is core to the organization. As a routine matter, working relationships are developed with the private investors, public organizations, and Fairmont’s resident population.
Majority of the organizations time and resources has been dedicated to the Maple/Ogden, and Jackson Addition neighborhoods. Furthermore the redevelopment of downtown Fairmont has been a side bar project which will likely include the entire Southside neighborhood of Fairmont and Traction Square.
The FCDP’s activities range from homeownership counseling, to the purchase and rehabilitation of homes to new construction of more homes, and the revitalization of commercial properties for businesses and residential use.
The Partnership is a NeighborWorks America organization, i.e., a chartered member of the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation. The Federal Home Loan Bank, US Housing and Urban Development, WV Development Office, and the WV Housing Development Fund have all been vital supporters of the FCDP.
